Team Pitea visit to Spotify

Once we reached the beautiful city of Stockholm we headed to the hotel, dropped off our bags, and changed into some proper attire in the hotel restroom because our rooms were not yet ready. We then grabbed a quick bite to eat and embarked on a two-mile walk to the wonderful company Spotify. To be honest, I was not very familiar with the company but was pleasantly surprised with all they had to say. Everyone in the company seemed to be very young, and they all really loved their jobs. All the walls throughout the company were covered in beautiful modern art designs.

Before the meeting all I knew about Spotify is that they are somewhat similar to Pandora but I quickly learned that they are not really the same thing at all. Pandora only operates in the U.S. Whereas, Spotify operates worldwide and gives you millions of songs at your fingertips, the artists you love, the latest hits, and new discoveries just for you. Hit play to stream anything you like. You can listen to artists, albums and playlists in shuffle mode, or choose a ready-made playlist to suit your mood. In contrast Pandora just offers you certain radio stations that are similar to the artist you select. With Pandora you cannot create a playlist or even pick the exact song you would like to listen to, all the songs come out randomly. However, you can like the songs you do hear and your certain radio station will be narrowed down more and play those songs more often.

Spotify is the best place to discover music, the discover page will constantly suggest new music for you, based on what you’re listening to, and then your next favorite songs will be waiting for you. There’s always great music to play, and you can browse amazing playlists for every mood and genre, so it makes it perfect if you don’t know exactly what to listen to, or if your in the mood for something new. Music is universal and it is the glue that brings all types of people together, that’s why spotify is so social. Share music on Spotify, Facebook, Twitter, your blog, or anywhere. You can get closer to the friends, artists and trendsetters who turn you on to great music. Find out what they’re listening to right now. Make your stations even better by liking songs as you hear them.

Since Spotify is so prevalent in social media they’re growth is increasing dramatically. It is also good for the artists and can help make the music industry lucrative. These days everyone just downloads music instead of purchasing albums and records, which make it hard for up and coming new artists to stay in the game. The only real way for them to make money is by having shows, where they can sell tickets and T-shirts for small profits. With Spotify there is a monthly fee, and a good portion of that money is given to the artists. Spotify is just a platform to help make the music more viral.
