As we wrap up Stockholm, we have learned a great deal about the Swedish people and how they value fitness. We walked multiple miles a day and had a number of options for gyms to go to. We stopped in at a few and took a look around. These gyms varied from only cardio to full-on weight lifting showing the depth of variety in fitness here. Another aspect that is tied closely to Sweden is the saunas and cold tubs. Speaking to a number of people, we learned that for a lot of Swedes, these are daily activities to remain healthy. This is just beginning to gain traction in America but is deeply intertwined with the Swedes. Speaking even more in-depth to some Swedes, they pride themselves on their fitness and culture around health. This was most obvious in Stockholm.

One of the critical points of our time in Stockholm was observing the Stockholm Marathon. This was amazing to watch, not only getting to see the front-runners of the race racing in a pack behind the police escort and media cars, but also people of all ages running and walking at their own pace. The city seemed to be incredibly supportive of the racers and had nothing but positive vibes.

We cherished the opportunity to workout in our hotel’s sister hotel across the street, where they had a total gym, pool, hot tub, and sauna available. This was amazing because it allowed us to get a strength training workout in, in addition to some cardio we had done on our first day. Evan did a half Murph workout, and Bradley did another city-wide run upon our arrival, but the rest of the time we both mixed in some weights and swimming, as well as hot tub and sauna for recovery from our networking evenings.
