Hey everyone, this is Nikki and Nicole starting off our first blog post from the airport as we wait for our flight that’s been delayed 3 times already. Our trip has definitely had a rocky start with police standoffs causing traffic on the way to the airport and random ketchup somehow covering my entire pants legs, but we are super excited to get to Sweden!
Introducing us
I’m one of the Nicole’s but I usually go by Nikki! This is my first time out of the country so this trip will definitely be one to remember. I really hope to learn more about Scandinavian culture in and out of the business environment. I’m excited to walk around and just experience life here. I can’t wait to try different foods, even though I’ll probably get distracted by some dish I could probably get at home.
I’m the other Nicole, and this is my first time in Europe so I am very excited. I really want to see what Scandinavian food and cities are like. Trying the chocolate here is at the top of my to-do list. I am really interested in visiting art museums and botanical gardens, but I am especially excited to learn what Scandinavian businesses and business culture is like. I want to know how different the Scandinavian business culture differs from the USA business culture.
So far in Sweden…
It’s now three days later and we just finished our first day in Gothenburg. Last night after a lot of walking around trying to find somewhere to eat, we finally settled on an Irish pub. Now we know what Sweden’s version of Irish food is. The drinks tasted amazing despite its weird name and me spilling the entire thing on the ground and myself (though the waiter did give me another one).
Today after a much needed 13 hours of sleep (Nicole slept maybe ½ hour on our total of 18 hours of traveling), we decided to visit the Gothenburg Art Museum. They displayed a wide range of contemporary art, from Van Gogh to sketches by a famous Swedish children’s book illustrator.
On the way back to the hotel, we took a walk through the botanical gardens where we saw a duck, baby geese, and beautiful plants and trees. Here is a picture of Nicole trying to play with “her duck” while I quickly walked away.
Sooo apparently on top of the actual business stuff, our blog will include all the mishaps we’ve encountered on this trip. Buckle up because Nikki is very clumsy and Nicole tends to wander.
