From Chapman to Sweden… The Victory Lap

Hello, or as we say in Swedish, Hej! My name is Duke Doyle, and this marks the completion of my academic journey, my final class, or what I like to call my victory lap, before officially graduating with my MBA from Chapman University. I am thrilled about this trip, as it will be my first time traveling outside the country. What do I expect from this trip? Well…let’s see how it goes. Joking aside, I am eagerly anticipating our visits to various corporate headquarters to observe how companies operate outside of the United States. Our adventure begins with a visit to Volvo, and I am particularly excited to tour the factory, observe their production line, and gain a deeper understanding of their operations. I also would like to learn more on what life is like outside the states, like I mentioned earlier, this is my first time out of the country so this experience will be something new to me. Stay tuned for more blog posts, and keep your curiosity alive. Let’s see where this journey, and maybe late nights turn to early mornings, and see where it takes us. Remember, “why hangover when you can just hang on?” Just kidding, of course. Skål!

Hej! My name is Saif, and I’m excited to cap off my MBA from Chapman University with the “Business in Scandinavia” travel course, using my last 3 credits to explore the Nordic culture. Growing up in Abu Dhabi as an international student, I’ve always been curious about different cultures. Despite countless layovers in Europe, I’ve never really explored the continent. This trip is my first real adventure into Scandinavia, and I can’t wait to experience Sweden’s tech-savvy business scene and rich heritage. Our journey kicks off in Gothenburg, known for its innovation and lively corporate vibe. Before that, I’ll have a layover in Munich, adding a bit of German flavor to the trip. I’ve had Swedish friends and met many Swedes over the years, and I’m eager to learn more about their country firsthand. It’s also a great opportunity to see how Swedish businesses operate compared to those in the U.S. I’m also excited to hopefully try some Swedish meatballs in Sweden, and not Ikea. This trip is an incredible opportunity to broaden my horizons and dive into a new culture. I’m grateful for this chance to wrap up my academic journey with such a unique experience.

Stay tuned for more updates as we explore Scandinavia, discover new insights, and share our adventures with you all. Let’s see where this journey takes us!
