Hello!
Or should I say Hallå! I am currently in my second year of the Chapman full-time MBA program, with a focus on entertainment. Before the Covid pandemic, my family and I were avid travelers, exploring different countries and immersing ourselves in diverse cultures. These experiences have truly broadened my worldview and allowed me to connect with people from various backgrounds, resulting in lifelong friendships.
Among my cherished travel memories is the time I spent in the Philippines creating a documentary. We had the opportunity to shadow a jeepney driver and document his daily life. It was an incredible experience highlighting both the differences and similarities between his routine and ours.
As I embark on my journey to Scandinavia, I am eager to engage with the local culture and gain insights into their approach to life. Coming from a society with a “go-go-go” mentality like the United States, I’m intrigued to discover how work culture differs in Sweden and Denmark. Given Scandinavia’s rich Viking history, I am inquisitive to observe how their historical legacy intertwines with modern society. Visiting the Vasa Museum, an essential stop on my itinerary, will provide a fascinating glimpse into Sweden’s past, including the famous sunken Viking ship.
Moreover, I have a strong desire to learn about the leadership styles prevalent in Scandinavian businesses. In the U.S., productivity often takes precedence over all else, so witnessing how companies prioritize employee well-being in these countries will be enlightening. I am incredibly enthusiastic about exploring how businesses incorporate the large amount of paid leave Swedes get to utilize. The possibility of implementing a similar approach in the United States genuinely excites me. I also believe my values will align with the Swedish belief that moderation is key. This is something I utilize in my own life, so I am interested to see how this interplays with Swedish life.
My first goal for this trip is to determine whether Sweden or Denmark could potentially be my future home. For years, I have contemplated living abroad and have scouted many countries. However, I consistently hear about Sweden and Denmark’s exceptionally high quality of life. So, I am genuinely interested in learning what makes these countries so wonderful!
My second goal is to document the entire trip through photography! As an experienced photographer, I aim to capture compelling shots that will form a captivating photo story and provide memorable images to share with my family and friends. I also hope that I will have some beautiful photographs to add to my portfolio.
Overall, my anticipation for visiting Sweden and Denmark knows no bounds. I am eager to absorb as much knowledge as possible during my time there.
Thanks,
Sam

Hello,
Or as we say in the US, hey. Ethan here. What’s up? I’m going into my second year of the full-time MBA as well. I’m looking to do marketing for films post-grad, but that’s a ways away so let’s talk about Scandinavia for now.
I’m super excited because I’ve wanted to go to Sweden since I was in 7th grade. Not sure why. Just saw that it was pretty and it became my new premier destination. But now that I know what all it has to offer, I’m pretty pumped. The business tours should be really interesting and enlightening and I am excited to check out the cities.
Ok, well I’m not sure what else to write. That’s my introduction, I guess.
Until next time,
Ethan
