Adventures Ahead: From Los Angeles to Stockholm

The itinerary for our trip consists of visits to Pitea, Stockholm, Copenhagen, and Oslo. Having never traveled to Sweden, Denmark or Norway before, it will be an adventure! I can’t wait to see the midnight sun, and experience the beautiful Scandinavian cityscapes.

Our group arriving in Stockholm

A group of us are going early to explore Stockholm before the official class starts up in Pitea. Pitea, Sweden will be a journey to the north of Sweden, where Dr. Myhr grew up. For the two days we will be in Stockholm, our group plans to discover the Old Town of Gamla Stan on foot, trekking though the streets of Stockholm and admiring the architecture. We also want to take a boat cruise tour to see the bridges of Stockholm from the water. After that, we would love to go to the Vasa Museum, and learn more about the ship and Stockholm’s history. One tip for flying with Norwegian Air is to bring your own headphones because it costs $3 on the flight. Also, it is necessary to take your own blanket because they will not provide one. Finally, you’d better to take some snacks and water with you because the flight duration is more than 10 hours and purchasing on the flight is costly. Snacks will help you eliminate hunger and help fill the monotony of a transatlantic flight.

One of my favorite parts about spending time in foreign countries is to try the local cuisine. I’ve researched Swedish food, and I am looking forward to trying all sorts of fish dishes, as well as more adventurous choices of meats such as reindeer. In addition, I’ve heard that Swedish and Danish pastries are absolutely delicious. I hope to taste a selection of Swedish delicacies, including the Swedish cinnamon buns, and Danish puff pastries
